AI Scan & Verification Notice

Effective Date: [Month Day, 2026] · Last Updated: [Month Day, 2026] — DRAFT, requires legal review.

Plain-language summary: RiskReady Home uses AI/OCR (optical character recognition) to help extract item details from a photo of a label or nameplate. These results are suggestions, not guarantees, and you must verify them before saving.

This page describes the AI scan feature for item nameplates and labels. For information about the RiskReady Guide chatbot, see the AI Guide Notice.

What the scan does

When you capture a photo of an equipment label or nameplate, RiskReady Home may use AI and OCR services to read the image and suggest fields such as item type, category, brand, model number, and serial number. The image and extracted text are stored on RiskReady servers; the underlying raw photo is associated with your item record when you choose to save it.

User verification is required

Before saving an item, RiskReady Home will show you a confirmation screen with the suggested details. You must review each field against the actual equipment label and correct anything that is wrong or missing. Saving the item is your confirmation that the details are accurate to your knowledge.

Why accuracy matters

RiskReady Home uses your saved item details to help locate manuals, warranties, suggested maintenance reminders, possible safety or recall notices, and reports. Incorrect details may lead to missed, irrelevant, or inaccurate results.

Limits of the scan

AI/OCR may misread labels, especially if the image is blurry, dim, partially obscured, glare-affected, or written in a stylized font. Some labels do not contain all of the fields the form expects. The scan is assistive, not authoritative.

Business card scans

RiskReady Home also lets you photograph a business card to fill in a new contact (name, company, phone, email, website, address). The card image is sent to our AI partner to read the printed text, then is discarded after the contact details are extracted. The card image is not stored on RiskReady Home servers and is not saved with the contact record.

Before you can scan a business card, you must agree to a short one-time consent that describes the AI processing step. You can always type contact details in manually instead.

The scan is assistive, not authoritative. Always review the extracted details and correct anything before saving.

Data handling

Scan images and extracted text are subject to our Privacy Policy and Data Retention & Deletion Policy. Scan upload tokens are short-lived and one-time-use.
